The Old Man and the Sea Book Cover

The cover design for "The Old Man and the Sea" features the title rendered in beautiful, hand-drawn type. Each letter has been carefully crafted with a pen and ink, giving the typography a personal touch that perfectly captures the spirit of the novel.

To achieve this handmade look, I scanned the pen and ink drawings and printed them onto paper. To give the design an aged, nautical feel, the I then used a xylene transfer technique to distress the printed type, creating a worn, weathered effect. The color palette for the design is simple, with muted shades of orange and cream. The distressed type gives the design a rustic, almost vintage feel that harkens back to the timelessness of the story.

Overall, the design is simple yet striking, capturing the essence of "The Old Man and the Sea" in its handmade, nautical feel.
